Thank you God for sending Your Son on one glorious night to be born a virgin, to live a perfect life and to die on the cross for my sins. Thank you that he rose from the dead three days later and that this Christmas and every Christmas we can celebrate the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Amen
From the Headmistress
Are you a glass half full or glass half empty kind of person? I’ll let you ponder that for a moment. And if I asked a range of other people, who knew you well, what do you think theirresponse would be? I would like to think that I am on the half full side of life. I like to think I’m positive and optimistic, and I like to see the best in everyone and everything......but last week I was made to think again, and over something that was quite trivial and quite small – but perhaps it is those things which reveal our true selves to the world. Having received the results from my recent blood test some weeks ago, I decided that if I was going to be in this job for the long game, then I needed to make some life style changes. Some have been more difficult than others. The G+T consumption has been reduced; the cake intake is non-existent, and as for crisps......they are banned from the house(please don’t think this list constitutes my whole dietary intake for a day......but they are my vices!) But the biggest change
has been resetting the alarm clock for 5.55am, easing myself out of bed, and peddling away on my exercise bike for 40 minutes each morning – and let me tell you, with only Brexit to accompany you on the iPlayer news it was fast becoming the most soul destroying 40 minutes of the day.... so swapping to the back catalogue of David Attenborough box sets has kept me going! So here I am 7 weeks later.........expecting big things, looking for major change and expecting to be a
weight?......No.........am I less tired?......No.......are the bags under my eyes even bigger?......Yes! So at the moment my glass is half empty, and it would be easy for it to stay that way. I could give up now (and believe me 5.55am this morning seemed VERY early!) but actually as with most things if I focus on the negative then it all seems pretty pointless. On the surface I have not (yet) achieved the goal I set out to gain, but look a little deeper, and perhaps from that different perspective we talked about last week, perhaps it’s not so bad after all. I’m sleeping better and my blood pressure has dropped (which in this job are two minor miracles in themselves!), my slightly high blood sugar levels are going back to something like normal, and 7 weeks has seen me nearly to the end of term. Sometimes we focus on what we haven’t got, rather than what we have. If you look for the bad news, you will be sure to find it, and the good news at times can be very elusive. For many year 11’s the Grade Indicator Exams may not yield the results that they may have desired and we need to think carefully both as parents and a school about how we respond to them when those results come out. There may be firm words to be had; but also even in the disappointment ask them to reflect on how they feel? Do they want to be in that position again? And if not what do they need to put in play in order to make that happen? Even in times of a “half empty” experience there are positives to be found and lessons to be learnt.....and with that in mind I’ll be back on the bike at 6.00 am tomorrow! Phew....we’ve reached the end of what has seemed like the longest term in history. So....if you’re still counting ....that’s now 4 terms down and 26 to go if I retire at 60! Enjoy the festive season and let’s be grateful for what we have got, rather than what we perceive to be missing. Miss B

IMPORTANT NOTICE Sale of Water in school
Dear Parents Please be aware that as from February half term we will no longer be selling drinking water in school This change is aimed at reducing single use plastic waste in school which the sale of water creates. We therefore are asking you supply your child with a refillable water bottle which pupils can bring in to school and fill up at a number of water fountains and water points, which we have around the school site May I thank you in advance for your support in this matter Mr Hollingsworth
